Katie Hobbs’ Campaign Announces Top Leadership, All Women of Color

PHOENIX — Today, Katie Hobbs’ campaign for governor announced new leadership for her campaign: Campaign Manager Nicole DeMont, Political Director Whitney Walker, and Finance Director Rose Huerta. All women of color, these new additions to the team contribute years of political experience and leadership to Hobbs’ growing campaign.

Nicole DeMont leads the team as Campaign Manager. Prior to joining Team Hobbs, DeMont most recently served as Deputy National Political Director at the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, where she worked to secure fair congressional and state legislative maps across the country. DeMont has also worked as a senior advisor to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and served as California State Director for Senator Elizabeth Warren’s 2020 presidential run.

Whitney Walker, JD, heads up the political team as Political Director. An accomplished legal and public policy professional with experience at all levels of government, Walker most recently served as the Vice President of Public Policy and Advocacy at Planned Parenthood Arizona. She has a proven record of working with advocates to end cycles of violence and poverty and has served on the Impact of Domestic Violence and the Courts Committee for the State of Arizona.

Rose Huerta will now lead Katie Hobbs’ historic fundraising efforts as Finance Director after serving as Deputy Finance Director since March 2021. She came to the Hobbs campaign after working on the finance team for congressional candidate Gina Ortiz Jones in 2020, a competitive congressional race in Texas where she managed a $3 million call time program resulting in a total of more than $6.8 million raised. She also served as a legislative aide at the Texas legislature in 2019.

“Nicole, Whitney, and Rose each bring the strategic vision, robust experience, and diverse perspective that we need to deliver the best for all Arizonans,” said gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs. “I’m confident that their leadership will elevate our campaign to even greater heights, and I’m excited to get to work with these women to make Arizona an even better place to live.”
